Is there a way to locate startups near me?

I like to keep my business local if and when possible. I am an old school kind of man. I am very traditional minded and community oriented. I would like to find local startups near me to invest in. Is there a way for me to locate them?

Check on Facebook. A lot times they will recommend business pages to you based on your location. This is the easiest way I know of in terms of locating local start-ups.

You can use Craigslist and other localized listing sites online to get into contact with people. I have heard of some people having great success this way. Facebook is another option like mentioned.

Advertise for it. You can use Facebook to reach out to people. Alternatively, there are several business conventions every year in most major cities. Check your closest major city and inquire about them. Some require a donation to attend but most are free.

You want to work with those who are local to the area I take it? As someone looking to invest, check out the city scene. Look for business conventions and up and coming investments in your community. Startups are not hard to find as most people looking to get a business going put it out there as much as possible.

Look for startup events in your area. Look for innovation labs, networking groups, and mentoring programs that will be hosted in your area in the next few coming months. The bigger conventions tend to happen in places like New York and California but you can still find them locally.
