Home business ideas with low startup costs?

I am looking for some profitable home business ideas that don't cost a lot up front. I have a few different ideas but generally know I want to start a home business. I just have to figure out the best way to approach this and find only the best options available in my budget range. Any ideas?

Well, if you can go about doing it the smart way, order items from India or China and mark the cost up. A good example of something that won't cost as much up front is a body jewelry shop. You can get the items at a wholesale price from China and sell them for a decent profit. For example, surgical steel hoops can be purchased for as low as $1 for 10 and you can sell each one for $5.

I agree about buying wholesale and uping the cost. This is what places like Walmart and Amazon do. They will pay maybe 50 cent for something that is made in China and charge people $15 for it.

Think about items that are cheap and easy to get. Make a business around those items. An online craft store, online pet store, things like that tend to do really well once they get going.

Homecrafting tends to have the lowest startup costs. This deals with things like homemade goods (candles, body sprays, jams, and other items). If you are making your own product from home, I would start out on a site like Etsy to get your product out there and branch out to your own store from there.

It depends what you consider to be low cost. If you want to start a business that costs you under $1000 to start, it will either have to be very small to begin with or it will have to be a service you provide. A lot of popup companies are showing up online that offer servers, Wordpress services, and webdesign. If you are running it yourself, you will only need to spend money on ads, the web domain, and maybe a custom website.
