Are there any new software startup ideas?

I am trying to focus on something newer and fresher, something that has promise in it. It seems like a lot of software that is out right now and currently running strong for a few years has the market locked down with little room for new guys to come into play. What are some new software startup ideas?

If you have the knowledge for it, creating new medical software would be HUGE right now. I can't remember the name of the software but I know something was recently sold for 100 million by a first time startup creator.

Anything in the health industry will do well in 2020. It can be medically based or it can focus more on nutrition or even weight loss. I think creating a new weight loss app or tracker that offers something others on the market do not could be huge.

I don't really follow trends because you end up in the same loop as everyone else trying to do the same thing. You want to think ahead of the trends and try to be where everyone will be in a year or two from now. That is how people gain the most success.

None that I am aware of. The trends of today have been going for a good 5+ years now so I am sure there are new ones that will be coming out of the woodwork, likely within the next 2 or 3 years.

Those that mention medical services are correct.

There is a bigger push than ever to have medical services from home within an app. There's a niche to be filled in there and someone will get rich from it.

A focus on smart devices is ideal. There is a constant growing market there and you can easily get involved in that if you are knowledgeable about trends and app development.

Someone mentioned to me that there is a market for downloading videos and MP3 format files from YouTube. If you can manage to make the software yourself and allow people to use it for free, you can make a lot of money off of ads on your site. Or you can go the mobile route which would come in handy for a lot of people that mostly use their phones to browse and watch things online.

@sheldon Is there even an app for something like this out there yet? I don't remember seeing an option so if that is true, that would be a massive success! I know a lot of people who travel and often want to download YouTube videos to watch on the plane or other places where internet access is not always an option.
